SRI Center for Maritime and Port Security (CMPS)
SRI’s Center for Maritime and Port Security is a division of SRI’s Marine Technology Program in St. Petersburg, FL. The Center developed a Maritime Domain Awareness System (MDAS) to demonstrate advanced sensing and situational awareness technologies for improved port security.
The MDAS system generates actionable intelligence by acquiring, analyzing, filtering, and disseminating data from integrated sensor and information processing systems. The approach uses a layered common operating picture of global maritime elements that provides for the creation of tailored, user-defined operational pictures responsive to various maritime domain communities of interest. The MDAS system’s integrated sensors, analysis algorithms, and a user interface, produces notification of anomalous events invoked by vessels, people, containers, facilities, and other elements.
